We have recently completed a a listed cottage in Holmbury St Mary, near Dorking which is a charming and modest residential property. As part of a major refurbishment, the client wished to introduce some energy efficient measures and after some consultation, it was decided to install a log fired boiler to supplement the normal oil fired heating system. The boiler selected by MCA Consulting Engineers was a Windhager Logwin rated at 50kW with 2 Calowin 750litre accumulator tanks. The system is designed such that whenever the log boiler is not operating, the oil fired boiler automatically fired to provide heating, avoiding the need for manual changeover. The heating system serves conventional radiators, underfloor heating and a hot water cylinder.
